About Trenchers

Trenchers is a fish and chips restaurant set directly beneath the landmark Spanish City dome on the Whitley Bay seafront. The menu features fish and chips alongside burgers, Thai green curry, wings and vegetarian options, with dedicated fryers for gluten-free and vegan choices, and a separate takeaway shop operates on the beach side of the building. Bringing the culinary tradition of Trenchers of Whitby to the coast, the restaurant offers a Kids Eat Free scheme, an afternoon Chippy Tea deal and Click & Collect ordering. A pianist performs on selected days. Trenchers placed third in the 2025 National Fish & Chip Restaurant Awards and featured in the Fry Awards' Top 10 UK restaurants.
