About Greek on the Beach

Greek on the Beach is a Greek restaurant and bar at 56-58 South Parade in Whitley Bay, in the building that was home to the Hairy Lemon for many years. It opened on Monday 26 October 2026 and is run by the team behind the former Petros restaurant at Winlaton Mill.

The menu covers meze and starters such as tzatziki, saganaki, halloumi, calamari and dolmades, gyros and souvlaki wraps, and larger Greek dishes including moussaka, lamb kleftiko, paidakia lamb chops, beef stifado and a mixed grill for two, plus pizzas with gluten-free bases. Vegetarian and vegan options are available, and the bar serves Greek spirits, cocktails and beers. Opening hours were not published at launch, so check with the restaurant via its website or Facebook page before visiting.
