About Whitley Bay Rockcliff RFC

Whitley Bay Rockcliff RFC is the town's rugby union club, first established in 1887 at Landreth's Hotel and one of the oldest sporting institutions on this stretch of coast, with thirteen Northumberland Senior Cup wins between 1890 and 1920 to its name. It plays at Hillheads off Lovaine Avenue, a short walk from the ice rink and Hillheads Park, and competes in Counties 2 Durham and Northumberland alongside running junior and social rugby. The club is affiliated to the Northumberland Rugby Football Union.

The clubhouse is also a working function venue and is offered for private hire to members and non-members alike. Capacity varies with the room layout, and the club provides a full bar and catering facilities plus an outdoor patio, handling birthdays, weddings, christenings and wakes as well as conferences, training days and meetings. Marquees and specialist room dressing can be arranged on request.
