About Tavern & Galley (formerly The Briar Dene)

This spacious seafront pub sits at 71 The Links at the northern end of the Whitley Bay promenade, within walking distance of St Mary's Lighthouse. Following a refurbishment it now trades as the Tavern & Galley, operated by Sir John Fitzgerald, and serves a menu inspired by locally landed seafood alongside modern British classics, pizzas and traditional Sunday roasts, with an adjoining fish and chip shop, The Fryer Dene. Facilities include an outdoor terrace with coastal views, a dog-friendly bar area, a car park, free WiFi and sports broadcasting. The venue is family and dog friendly.
