About Earsdon & Wellfield Community Association
Earsdon & Wellfield Community Association runs a community centre in the middle of Earsdon village, at 3a Church Way, Whitley Bay. The building was originally the village school, built in stone in 1856 by the mine owners to educate local children. It ceased to be a school around 1960 and has served as a community centre in one form or another since 1965. The premises comprise five classrooms, a kitchen and toilet blocks connected by a central hallway. Rooms are available throughout the week to established and start-up groups, and the centre hosts a variety of activities and groups welcoming new members.
