Best Breakfast in Whitley Bay

From bao buns at 7am to brunch on Park View and elegant pastries in the Spanish City dome — the best breakfast spots in Whitley Bay.

Whitleybay.live·

Whitley Bay has quietly become one of the best places on the North East coast to eat breakfast. The independent cafe scene has a mix of brunch-focused kitchens, traditional tearooms, and genuinely original concepts. Whether you want a full English with a sea view or a breakfast bao bun, there is something here for every appetite.

Here is our guide to the best breakfast spots in Whitley Bay.

Kith and Kin

Kith and Kin at 172 Park View is one of the most popular brunch spots on the coast, and for good reason. The family-run cafe serves all-day breakfast and brunch using the best seasonal produce, with a menu that balances comfort food with more adventurous options. Shakshuka, poached eggs on sourdough, eggs Benedict, and halloumi feature prominently, and there are solid vegetarian and vegan options too.

The coffee is excellent and the atmosphere warm and welcoming. Kith and Kin also opens for evening dining later in the week. It gets busy at weekends, so arriving early is advisable.

Best for: Brunch classics done well, seasonal produce, family-run, Park View favourite.

Crab and Waltzer

Crab and Waltzer on Marine Avenue delivers hearty breakfasts in one of the most memorable settings in Whitley Bay. The cafe-bar sits right on the seafront with panoramic coastal views, and the interior features a repurposed fairground waltzer as seating -- giving the place a character entirely its own.

The breakfast menu covers a proper full English loaded with eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, and toast, alongside lighter options like avocado on toast. Waffles with bacon and eggs and pancake stacks are there for those with a sweeter tooth. The crab sandwich on malted bread is famously good at lunch. Family-friendly with high chairs and a children's menu.

Best for: Full English with a sea view, fairground-themed interior, family-friendly, famous crab sandwich.

Valerie's Tearoom at Spanish City

Valerie's Tearoom occupies a beautiful space inside the restored Spanish City building, and it serves a proper sit-down breakfast alongside its more famous afternoon teas. The breakfast and brunch menu includes eggs Benedict, eggs Royale, eggs Florentine, a full English, omelettes, and a selection of freshly baked pastries and muffins.

The setting is elegant -- Art Deco touches throughout, sea views, and an atmosphere that feels special without being stiff. A gluten-free menu is available, prepared in a dedicated kitchen to minimise cross-contamination.

Best for: Elegant Art Deco setting, eggs Benedict and full English, gluten-free menu, Spanish City.

Pablo Eggsgobao

Pablo Eggsgobao at 12 Station Road is one of the most original breakfast concepts in the North East. The signature dish is the breakfast bao -- a pillowy steamed bao bun filled with an omelette, hash brown, American-style cheese, and sausage, topped with sriracha mayo. It sounds indulgent because it is, and it has earned the place a devoted following.

Open daily from 7am to 2pm, Pablo's is ideal for an early start. The menu extends beyond baos to other creative breakfast options, and the portions are generous. It is a small space, so expect a queue at peak times -- but it moves quickly.

Best for: Breakfast bao buns, open from 7am, creative menu, cult following.

Foda

Foda in neighbouring Monkseaton is the latest addition to the Whitley Bay brunch scene, bringing a Nordic-inspired aesthetic and a globally influenced menu to the coast. Brunch dishes include French toast with brulee figs, creme fraiche, walnuts, honey and cinnamon, steak and eggs, shakshuka, and mackerel on toast.

The cafe is dog-friendly, sources from local suppliers, and serves speciality coffee and natural wines. Open Monday to Saturday 9am-4pm and Sunday 10am-2pm. Well worth the short walk from central Whitley Bay.

Best for: Nordic-inspired, globally influenced brunch, dog-friendly, natural wines, Monkseaton.

Tips

Earliest start. Pablo Eggsgobao opens at 7am daily -- the earliest option on this list.

Sea views. Crab and Waltzer and Valerie's both offer coastal views with your breakfast.

Something different. Pablo's bao buns and Foda's Nordic-inspired menu offer genuine alternatives to the standard eggs-and-toast brunch.
