About Whitley Bay Swim School

Whitley Bay Swim School offers term-time swimming lessons for babies, toddlers and young children in the heated hydrotherapy pool at Woodlawn School, Drumoyne Gardens, Monkseaton. Classes progress through stages by age, beginning with parent-and-baby sessions from six weeks old, moving to toddler classes where parents gradually leave the water, and continuing to independent lessons following Swim England Stages 1 and 2 for children aged around three and over. The pool is kept at approximately 33°C, offering a gentle, warm introduction to the water. Lessons are led by instructor Tina, qualified in baby and pre-school teaching, supported by a lifeguard-trained assistant. Sessions run on Thursdays, with Saturday classes added from autumn 2026.
