Co-op Food on Marine Avenue is a handy neighbourhood convenience store near the Whitley Bay seafront, sharing its building with the Berkeley Tavern above. It moved here in 2017 from a previous site on Park View, and opens early until late every day for groceries, fresh and chilled food, bakery, wine and everyday essentials, the kind of store you can rely on for a top-up outside the bigger supermarkets' hours.
As a Co-op, it combines a familiar convenience-store range with the group's membership scheme and its long-standing support for community causes. Its position close to the front makes it a useful stop for residents on the eastern side of town and for visitors heading to or from the beach.
