Whitley Bay's biggest food event of the summer takes centre stage this weekend. Feast by the Sea returns to Spanish City Plaza for two days of street food, local produce, and live cooking. Beyond the coast, the Northumberland Plate brings a full day of racing and Joe McElderry debuts a new show at the Theatre Royal. Here is what is on.

Feast by the Sea -- Day 1

Saturday 27 June at Spanish City Plaza. The coast's favourite food festival is back from 10am to 5pm. Street food traders from across the region, artisan producers, live demonstrations, and plenty to eat and drink in the shadow of the dome. Arrive early for the best picks.

Feast by the Sea -- Day 2

Sunday 28 June at Spanish City Plaza. Day two of the festival runs from 10am to 5pm with a fresh line-up of traders and entertainment. A relaxed Sunday afternoon on the plaza with the whole family.

Northumberland Plate Festival

Saturday 28 June at Newcastle Racecourse. The highlight of the North East racing calendar. A full day of flat racing at Gosforth Park with hospitality, live music, and all the atmosphere of the region's biggest race day. About 25 minutes from Whitley Bay by car.

Buzz Dance: At The Movies

Friday 27 June at Northern Stage, Newcastle. A lively evening of dance inspired by iconic film soundtracks, performed at Northern Stage from 7:30pm. An easy Metro ride from Whitley Bay for a Friday night in the city.

Something in the Water -- Joe McElderry

Saturday 28 June at the Theatre Royal, Newcastle. The South Shields singer brings his brand-new show to the Theatre Royal with matinee and evening performances at 2:30pm and 7:30pm. A great excuse for a trip into town after Feast by the Sea.

Tynemouth Station Market

Saturday 28 June at Tynemouth Station. FREE entry. The ever-popular weekend market beneath the Victorian canopy with handmade crafts, vintage fashion, and street food. Just a short walk along the coast from Whitley Bay. Open 9am to 4pm.
