Feast by the Sea Returns to Spanish City Plaza on 25-26 July

Few things say summer in Whitley Bay quite like the smell of street food drifting across the seafront. Feast by the Sea returns to Spanish City Plaza on the weekend of 25-26 July 2026, transforming the plaza into a sprawling open-air food festival, as listed by Proper Food and Drink Festivals.

What's On

The festival brings together some of the region's best street-food traders in one spot, with bars to wash it all down, small rides for younger children and entertainment throughout the day. It all takes place in the shadow of the famous white dome at Spanish City, making it one of the most photogenic festival settings on the coast.

The organisers have been running events at the plaza for more than a decade, and these weekends typically draw thousands of visitors across the two days. With the beach and promenade a stone's throw away, it is easy to fold a visit into a full day at the coast.

Make a Day of It

If you are coming from further afield, the Metro drops you right by the seafront -- and with the station footbridge freshly restored, the walk down to the plaza is easier than ever. The independent shops, cafes and bars of Park View are a short stroll inland if you fancy carrying on after the festival winds down.

Best for: Feast by the Sea runs across Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 July at Spanish City Plaza. There is a second date earlier in the summer too, on 27-28 June, if you cannot wait until July.

As an outdoor festival, it is worth keeping an eye on the forecast and dressing for a sea breeze even on a sunny day. Check the organisers' Facebook page nearer the time for the confirmed trader line-up and opening hours. Bring cash as a back-up, though most stalls take card, and arrive hungry.
